Wyoming Ushers in New Era: Launches Frontier Stable Token ($FRNT)
Date: January 7, 2026
CHEYENNE, WY — Governor Mark Gordon has officially announced the public launch of the Frontier Stable Token ($FRNT). This marks a historic milestone as the first-ever fiat-backed stablecoin issued by a government entity in the United States—the Wyoming Stable Token Commission.
Key highlights from the report:
Backing: The token is 100% backed by U.S. Dollars and short-term Treasuries. By law, the state is required to maintain an over-collateralized reserve of 102%.
Funding Education: All interest earned from the Treasury bills backing the token will be directed to the Wyoming State School Fund, helping to reduce the tax burden on citizens.
Accessibility: The token is currently available on the Kraken exchange (via the Solana network) and through the Rain platform, which features Visa integration.
Technology: The asset operates across multiple blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Optimism, and Polygon, utilizing the LayerZero protocol for cross-chain transfers.
Objective: To make government payments faster and more cost-effective. The Governor noted that using $FRNT will save the state hundreds of thousands of dollars in transaction processing fees.
Governor’s Quote:
"Today’s launch further demonstrates Wyoming’s status as a leader in innovation. We are providing our citizens and businesses with a cheaper, faster, and more transparent tool for transactions."
